Local travel
Suitable public transport in South Africa is scarce, and we strongly recommend that you hire a car upon arrival. Although we drive on the left side of the road, we can assure you that you will very quickly adapt (even if that is the “wrong” side). The flexibility of being able to accept spur-of-the-moment invitations to visit Clivia collections or other unplanned attractions is well worth while.
As our official service provider, Sure Travel Studio has negotiated special conference rates (including insurances and unlimited mileage) with Avis Rent-a-Car. The information below serves as illustration.

Group A vehicle ( Toyota Corolla or Similar, Manual, Radio/Tape, 4Door)
Rates with unlimited mileage.
R270 per day (1-6 days)
R235 per day (7-13 days)
R220 per day (14-30days)

A general one-way fee of R377.00 will apply on any one-way rental when a vehicle is picked up and dropped off at different locations in South Africa with the exception of:

  • Rentals from Johannesburg to Pretoria and vice versa
  • Rentals from Durban to Pietermaritzburg and vice versa
  • Collections and delivery takes place in the same city

On Rentals from the following locations, the one-way fee stipulated will apply:

  • East London or Port Elizabeth or Grahamstown to Cape Town – R912.00
  • Johannesburg or Pretoria to Durban – R912.00
  • Johannesburg or Pretoria to Cape Town – R912.00
  • Durban or Pietermaritzburg to Cape Town – R912.00
  • Johannesburg or Pretoria to Mpumalanga – R912.00
  • East London to Port Elizabeth – R377.00

Sure Travel Studio can take care of your flight reservations.

Airport Transfers
Sure Travel Studio can arrange for transfers from and to all the airports. The cost of a one way transfer from Johannesburg International to the official conference hotels in Pretoria is R250.00 per trip. Since a mini bus is used this is very economical option because the cost can be shared between two to six persons. Please inform Sure Travel Studio at least 7 days in advance if they should they arrange for a transfer for you.
Alternatively, you can make use of Birdie Golf Tours to provide a transfer from Johannesburg International to your destination in Pretoria (also Johannesburg). The cost is R150.00 per person (irrespective of the number of persons) per trip and is payable at the airport. In order for Birdie Golf Tours to provide you with an effective and efficient service, kindly download the travel details form and e-mail it to sales@birdiegolf.co.za. Note that Birdie Golf Tours only operates in the Gauteng area.  
Look out for the Clivia 2006 banner at the Johannesburg International Arrivals Terminal to meet the service provider.

Transfers from Pietermaritzburg to Durban International Airport.  Cheetah busses (a Pietermaritzburg based company) offer a very economical shuttle service (from Pietermaritzburg to Durban International airport) at R75 per head twice a day, leaving Pietermaritzburg at 06:45 and 13:00.  A minimum of four reservations is needed - they normally have that number plus, but if not, a special minibus can be arranged at a total cost of R350.  Please contact Eunice (eunicevr.travelstudio@galileosa.co.za) at Sure Travel if you are interested.

Transfers between Hotels and Conference centre/show venues
All the Pretoria Hotels can provide a taxi service (at extra cost) to and from the conference/show venue.
